Climate Goals

Overview

At Sustainable Margins, we believe every community deserves a role in the fight against climate change—no matter how remote or overlooked. Our climate goals focus on creating real change in places that are often left out of global sustainability efforts. We deliver practical, science-based solutions that are built with local people in mind and made to last. What makes us different from traditional consulting firms is that we don’t just advise—we take action. We help turn climate strategies into real infrastructure, bringing clean energy, water, and sustainable systems to the ground where they’re needed most. Our goal is simple: make climate progress inclusive, impactful, and truly global.

What steps are we taking?

At Sustainable Margins, we take practical, measurable steps to bring real sustainability solutions to communities that are too often left behind. Our process begins with identifying underserved regions where access to clean water, energy, and infrastructure is limited. In many of the areas we focus on, over 40% of the population lacks reliable access to safe drinking water. We use data, field assessments, and local partnerships to pinpoint where our impact can be most meaningful.

Once a region is identified, we design and develop infrastructure tailored to local needs. Our solar-powered water purification units, for instance, can produce up to 10,000 liters of clean water per day—enough to serve more than 500 people per system. These solutions are engineered to function in remote or resource-limited settings, ensuring they are practical, efficient, and long-lasting.

We then move into hands-on deployment, working directly with local engineers, suppliers, and community organizations. These collaborations help us reduce setup time by up to 70% and ensure the systems are built with local knowledge and input. Every project is co-created to encourage ownership, relevance, and long-term success.

Community training is a key step in our process. We invest time in educating local operators to manage and maintain the systems independently. Our goal is for at least 80% of the infrastructure we install to be fully community-operated within three years. This empowers residents, reduces dependency, and ensures that the impact continues far beyond the initial installation.

Finally, we monitor performance and gather data to improve and expand our work. By tracking usage, efficiency, and water quality, we continuously optimize our systems. With this approach, we are on track to deliver over 2 million liters of clean water annually, combining both bottled production and direct access for rural communities. Each step we take is focused on creating lasting, inclusive solutions that bridge the gap between sustainability vision and real-world change.
